TANK REMEDIATION PROJECT COMPLETED
Oak Ridge, TN – March 23, 2005 -- The last two inactive liquid low-level radioactive waste (LLLW) storage tanks requiring remediation at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) have been filled with grout, culminating a tank remediation project that began in early 2002. The project, which was originally scheduled for completion in June of 2006 at an estimated cost of more than $10 million, was completed more than a year ahead of schedule and for about half that cost, or about $5 million.
