To the Waste Transportation and Disposition Operations Team for outstanding achievement in reducing hazardous waste requiring disposal by obtaining approval from TDEC on a RCRA "Headwork's Exemption" and for significant water conservation measures associated with Haul Road maintenance by using a soil fixative instead of large quantities of water for dust control. These efforts resulted in a cost avoidance of over $2 million for disposal of hazardous waste in FY07 and a recurring cost avoidance of over $400,000 per year. In addition, use of the soil fixative on the Haul Road eliminated the use of approximately 8 million gallons of potable water per year for dust control, as well as reduced the release of particulates in storm water runoff and fugitive air emissions.
