Maximum Achievable Control Technology (MACT)

The Environmental Protection Agency has issued standards for hazardous waste combustors which are applicable to the TSCA Incinerator. These standards include new emission limits for organic compounds and metals, as well as new requirements for operator training and certification. For particulate matter and metals, these new standards are more stringent than previous TSCA Incinerator permit limits. The TSCA Incinerator completed a test and demonstrated compliance with the new standards in 2005. The test report was submitted to the State of Tennessee in May 2005. A copy of the test report is available for review at the DOE Information Center.
